Explorer Legacy Challenge- Gen 1

Starting a Legacy Challenge today for Sims 4!

This one popped up in a search and here is the website I found it on:

Explorer Legacy Challenge

It interested me because it included stuf I have not done in gameplay right off the bat. Like running a veterinary clinic. Which is something I've wanted to do ( I have had Cats and Dogs for a while now!) just haven't done yet. And Veterinary work was something I was interested in growing up, so it really caught my interest!

*** Disclaimer: I am completely new to Custom Content and Mods. I finally added some and they actually worked! I love the additional fun it adds to the game, I do plan on adding more slowly ( I might have started an obsession). But for now I don't have much.

*** I also currently do not have all the packs but I'm working on it!

Happy New Year! Spent most of the day playing Sims 4 and starting my Legacy Challenge.
Ruby is getting settled in Brindleton Bay, getting to know her neighbors and building a small house to live in with her pets.

She adopted a smooth hair terrier named Mimi and made immediate friends with the pet adoption person. However, she did not like the Delgatos, her neighbors.

She scrapped up enough money after buiding her house to buy a lot for her veterinary practice but only has one piece of wall at the moment. She scouted the already established vet clinic in the area and met the local vet, who she immediately has a crush on. A few days later, he asked her to the San Myshuno Romance Festival ( budding romance maybe?)

Today, was mostly about skill building and earning money to build her vet practice. Gaining skills in charisma, fishing, pet training, and cooking. Next time, hopefully I will figure out a way to get enough money to build her office. I'm thinking about getting the SNBanking mod to get a loan and go ahead and getting started on the main part of this challenge.

1/3/2025
Okay so I tried the SNBanking mod. No way to use loans, I thought there was but I was wrong. Oh Well! I did cheat a bit, I gave Ruby 10k so start her business but I am treating it like a loan and making payments out of her profits until it is paid off with a little interest even! Here is what the vet clinic build looked like. Don't judge, I am still learning to build beautiful lots.
I ended up turning the second exam room into a bathroom and when enough profits were made, I built an extra exam room to the back. Next step, adding another vet, because my girl is getting swamped! I even have paid off about 750 of the 10k loan already.
This vet clinic feature to the game is so fun and addicting! The clinic is currently a 2.5 star clinic! I'm so glad I started with this challenge! Next goals, hire a vet for the clinic, build on to my home, add another pet, focus on training skill.

We had a snow day today and what better way to spend it than playing Sims! Ruby adopted a new puppy named Pacy. She was a stray and my 4 year old son renamed her. Her she is!
However shortly after we adopted her, our cat Ginger dies of old age :(. To cheer us up, our friend invited us over to meet the toddler she adopted and it really did cheer Ruby up to play with the child. I think that she may have gotten baby fever!

We hired another vet for the clinic who is not very enthusiastic about the job but is a big help. The clinic is now a 3.5 Star clinic! And we built on to the clinic with a bigger lobby, better furniture and a new room in the back where we can craft medicines and perform surgery, however it is still in progress. We have made progress on our "Loan"and have now paid of $2k on it.

Unfortunately our first pet, Mimi died of old age too and shortly after our adopted stray Pacy also died! So Ruby adopted one more stray dog and she is down to only her. A cute little Malitpoo named Mika. We also maxed our veterinarian skill! And our pet training skill is to level 4. So most of the goals from the previous play were accomplished in this play. So goals for next play: Build a living area and a baby room onto Ruby's house. continue to pay off our "loan", adopt another pet, improve our Vet Clinic rating and find someone Ruby finds attractive for her to have a science baby with!

Another snow day, but without snow! (smh) But a lot of time to play the Sims 4 challenge. So here'show today's play went.

Ruby payed off her loan with interest because she left her clinic open without her and left it in charge of her associate veterinarian. However, our rating did go down to a 3 star while she was in charge. When she went in the next few days, the first thing she found was her associate sleeping on the job. She forgave her the first 2 times, but on the third she had to fire her. And now she despises her. We did hire a new associate vet and she is working out much better.

Ruby was very picky on who she found attractive and ended up coming back to Junior, her first crush. She and Junior hit it off really quick! She and him decided to become woohoo partners and in the next few days, really took that label to heart! Ruby found out at work that she was eating for two even after taking negative pregnancy tests at home AND using protection.

She and Junior had a talk the next day in which she told him she was pregnant. Surprise! Junior is actually married to a man! She asked him to break up with him and Junior agreed that his marriage was not working anyway. She sent him on his way. Next day, Junior called to meet with her at a local pub and when she got there. She had some small talk with him and even asked if he would like to feel for the baby.

Then she asked was if he was still married, to which he replied he was. Ruby was so heartbroken, she went into labor!
After baby Daphne was born, Junior called with the news he has broken up with his partner. Ruby is going to give him a chance to get to know Daphne and see about being co parents. For now, I don't think she trusts him enough to be romantic partners with him yet.
No new room for baby Daphne, but the pet room was converted into the baby room and since we have not adopted a new pet, there is plenty of room for baby stuff.
Oh and we maxed the pet training skill!
Now our only goal for gen 1 to finish is to get her vet clinic to a 5 star clinic, which I am finding very difficult to do. So if anyone reads this and has any advise, I could greatly use it!

First thing I find when my notifications from MCCC is that Junior has remarried to Cassandra Goth! I was shocked. Ruby immediatly invited him over to see if it was true. Junior indeed remarried. Ruby was heartbroken again from Junior, but this time enough was enough! She told him off and said he no longer was welcomed in her home, she called off their woohoo partnership and sent him on his way.
She spent the next day with Daphne the now toddler, playing with her and teaching her skills in lieu of missing a father. Even though she really never knew him.

The next few days are spent at work trying to gain some star ratings at the vet clinic. I tried being the only vet to treat patients so I could greet patients and owners and give them attention, since my current employees are only at Vet levl 3 and 4 and charisma level 3. But that quickly got overwhelming and ratings went down due to the wait. So I readjusted and made sure to add the interaction of telling the pets they are a good pet at the end of the exam. It helped but still only gained my vet rating to a 3.5 star clinic. Towards the end of my game play I used the surgery machine/scanner and was able to get a 4 star review pretty quickly,so I think that will be my next method.

Ruby and Daphne spent a quiet harvestfest together and ate their turkey grand meal together on Daphne's bed. That night they had a quiet birthday for Daphne and she aged up to a cute little girl. We also got the call that Junior had died, but he sent one last gift for Daphne's birthday in the mail from beyond the veil.

Still the only goal for this Gen is to get our Vet clinic to a 5 Star rating. I'm thinking about selling our business and buying the already established Vet clinic in town. But that will be a last resort.

1/31
Okay so I have done some googling and I realized a couple things about my vet clinic: 1. I probably have too many reviews in the 3 star category that its going to be almost impossible to get it up higher
2. My employees are only level 3-4 vet skill so they are only going to get at most 3 star reviews
3. My clinic's environment is not good enough to get that bonus as the patients arrive

SO my solution was to sell the existing clinic, buy the same lot and then rebuild another clinic and pretty mush start over. I am going to try to go at it with Ruby as the only vet. And only allow 1-2 customers in at a time to really get their reviews up.

Also Ruby is now an Elder and Daphne is only a few days away from being a teen. Pictures will be attached in the next entry.

2/1
Daphne aged up to a teen and our founder is a beautiful elder. Our vet clinic is currently at a 2 star rating, and steadily going up. All 8 reviews have been 4 stars. I still am not sure to get those coveted 5 star ratings. Hopefully it will come with time?

2/15
Gen 1 has come to an end... Ruby's vet clinic has reached 4 stars but could not get to the coveted 5 star rating :(. Daphne is now a young adult and has gone off to Britechester to study Fine Arts. She is hoping to meet the love of her life here and have fun in the process. Ruby is still alive and enjoying her home with her two pets and is still working as a top level vet in Brindleton Bay.
